Rye Castle Museum

The museum tells the story of Rye's long and illustrious history as an 'antient town' of the Cinque Ports. Visitors can learn how the famous Romney Marsh was formed, see an original smuggler's lantern and attempt to be a medieval soldier using replica armour at the Ypres Tower.

At East Street, visitors can see Rye's 18th century fire engine and learn how Rye changed between the wars, how the coast developed and many other fascinating facts about the development of this medieval maze of a town.
