The Cinque Ports

Famous for its historic countryside, Hastings and 1066 Country is skirted by a spectacular coastal stretch that's full of maritime promise and mystery. Before the Royal Navy, Hastings and the two 'antient towns' of Rye and Winchelsea harboured the ships and men who guarded king and country from frequent and vicious attacks. This unique confederation of the Cinque Ports was the original force behind England's maritime power.
