How we work

"Working with the Council has been a pleasure - we were most impressed with your speedy response!"
Russell Lodge, Production Manager 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.

Whether you're shooting a low budget feature, a short, a commercial or a major drama series, we'll always do our best to accommodate you.

Our bureaucracy-free approach means we've been able to help productions with notice periods as long as six months or as short as six hours.

In exchange for this level of flexibility, we expect incoming production companies to be fully co-operative and highly courteous to our residents and visitors.  In the first instance, we'll always need:

  • A shooting schedule
  • Evidence of risk assessment
  • A copy of your Public Liability Insurance

If you require parking permits, please provide us with details of all the vehicles including make, colour and registration number.  You should inform us of any special parking needs but be aware that some areas of the town are more difficult to park in than others (for example - there is a weight restriction on the promenade).

Fees

Because of the vast array of locations available in the town and the differing needs of productions, our fees are variable and based on:

  • The extent to which your production will disrupt ordinary day-to-day activity in the town
  • The demands it makes on key council services (eg. the Marketing and Communications team, Parking Services, Street Wardens etc.)
  • The nature of your production

In the first instance, it's often quicker and easier to discuss your requirements with a member of our team.

When making a location fee payment you can either send us a cheque (payable to Hastings Borough Council) and we'll issue a receipt or we can send you an invoice on receipt of your company name, address and phone number.
