Camber Castle

This isolated tower, which stands between Rye and Winchelsea, stood proud protecting this stretch of coast in the early 16th century, but was abandoned as a defence by the mid-17th century as the threat of French and Spanish invasion diminished.

The castle remains largely untouched from this period and its original design can still be seen.
