Free as the Fields

About

Free as the Fields is an exhibition of new work by Robertsbridge based artist Martin Brockman featuring new woodblock prints, each depicting a bird currently on the Red List

Also included will be original drawings and clay works, additionally, a native tree will be planted for each woodblock print made. These will also form part of the exhibition.

The exhibition will not have a private view launch, instead, we will be hosting a Dawn Chorus Walk on May 18th. A chance to stop and be together to experience the dawn chorus in all its natural and timely glory. It happens everyday, but how many of us take the time to actually experience it?

- Details for this unique event will be promoted over the next week, but here they are for info: Meet at 4.45am by Robertsbridge Cricket Ground Saturday May 18th. The entrance will be marked by handmade lanterns.

Running alongside the exhibition we will also be delivering 5 practical workshops, including woodblock printing, pigment ink making and clay making and firing. These will be hosted both at the gallery and in the woodland behind the gallery building.

As part of our vision with this project, we wanted to connect with local makers and businesses who are also trying to work with nature and sustainably. Polly Bennett from POLBEN'S Pigment will be co-delivering a workshop with us, and we will also be hosting sustainable Sussex Cider Company Bignose and Beardy for a cider tasting event.
